So about that "creeper Alice" scene.

I guess it came to the point where actually reshooting the scene would be better. 3 second shot with only 2 actors can't hurt anybody, eh?

The reason I failed to fix it in post is a combination of several ugly factors:

  • The subject I needed to "delete" from the shot was located at the corner of the frame, thus having a lot of lens distortion on itself (yeah, minecraft has lens distortion, just as every other 3d game)

I had no "clean plate" to replace the subject with. I tried actually going in the minecraft and taking the picture of the background but the sharpness was very different from the actual footage. I also tried extracting the actual textures from the texture pack and matching the light conditions in post, yet I still had the problem #1 that I couldn't deal with. I was even thinking about tracking 3d geometry and applying textures on a 3d model and overlaying it in post using layer system... but, sheesh, why don't we just refilm the damn shot? :O

My GPU is dead, again.

Re-filming that will be no problem. We can do it quickly at the end of tomorrow's shoot.

Is your GPU really dead now?

Welp, you spend 35 pounds on the MC server in total.

Looks like I'll have to spend a little more

Hey,

If we dont have enuf players for the final shoot

we can make a greenscreen and all the players that are online runes infront off the greenscreen and then copying it so it looks like there are alot of zombies

We already done a shot like this.

Most of the others would be pretty hard to do, considering that we need natural camera shake, and a lot of depth layers like grass and such.

It would of course be possible if we could make a script that would replicate the same camera movement over and over, then we would be able to rotoscope the characters when they are near each other or we can "just" make the exterior completely green screen and shoot clean plates of the characters running from different angles, however that would look unrealistic and fake.
Of course we can also use 3d models of the characters and build our set in 3Ds Max, thus completely not using Minecraft for the final result.

But if that's easy for you to do, you can give it a try!

Um, I have it since 2004 and since then I was upgrading it and upgrading.
So it was Pentium 4 3.2 GHz, Radeon 9500 pro (256 Mb)
and until a few days ago it was Phenom II x4 940 3 GHz, HD4850 (1gb)

Now I had to replace my awesome video card with the crappy one for some time - HD5450 (512 Mb)

Damn, this thing can barely run Minecraft at 1080p.

p.s. I'll just leave this here:

Hey, everyone,

I came up with a small video after Styx and I had finished doing something for the project. It's just for fun Very Happy

p.s. everything you see was filmed in single player; no need to come on the server and check if everything is o.k.

Get Firefox Smile I hate chrome it keeps saying Not responding, never happens for my firefox. Probably some reason for it that I can fix. Like whenever I start Chrome it says Not responding and stays on that for about 10 mins then just keeps doing that all the time. Sad
